It's back

It's back.

With even more panic and confusion than usual. This time I'm around, I'm even more afraid.

The last time this happened was around the time I was graduating college, when I didn't know what to do next. I knew I wanted to study further, but what, where and how completely flummoxed me and I decided it would be best for me perhaps to work for a year, so I would get a clearer idea of what I wanted to do next in life.

And now it's December and I've know I've got approximately four months until I start putting in applications for whatever it is I wanted to.

Yes, I'm aware that four months is a hell of a long time, but I don't want to work that way. I know me. And one of my many many skills is procrastination. And if I know I have a 120 days until I have to absolutely get off my fat ass and do something, I'm not going to do anything but postpone.

Also, another reason is, I'd like to definitely know what it is that I want to do and where I'm applying. Wrap up things here properly. Apply for my student loan, have a place to stay once I arrive there and if my mom sees this, she'll robably faint from shock, learn to even maybe cook a little. What? It's good to be self reliant! And besides, didn't Gandhi say something along those lines anyway?

And so, my plea to you, Oh great and wise Internet guru, as well as my loyal readers, of which there are very few, What the f*** do I do? Any ideas? Aside from of course, going to Edwise.

I've done my Bachelors in Mass Media so far, majoring in Journalism. I would like something along those lines. But HR is an option I am considering. So help me.

Pretty please.

How about coming to the US for further studies or even going to Australia? If you dont want to be far from home I think Symbiosis has a good program for journalism or MBA (incase u want to pursue HR)

@ Homecooked:I'm more inclined towards the U.S or the U.K. The U.K more in particular. I'm not really interested in studying in Australia somehow and while studying in India is an option I'm considering, I really want to go abroad for the experience.

Hey,
Forgot how I got to your blog, but that hardly seems relevant now.
I went through the same deliberation and am now doing my Masters in HR in UK. So let me know if you need any info on that front.
Good luck :)

@ Shilpa: Hey! Thanks so much. That was really sweet of you. I'll definitely contact you if I need something. Where are you studying? As in which university?

HR pays well...surely more than mass media...
symbiosis is expensive but has bigger name as compared to pune univ. or mumbai univ...pune univ. is cheapest of lot.. ..both which are not bad really..
if you are looking for money ..HR is good ...but you love journalism..more than money...got for it...money will always come...

I'm studying at the Manchester Business School, affiliated to the University of Manchester.
It takes time to decide what you want to do and then where you want to study. Took me ages!

@ Shilpa: How's the program at your school? Is it good? And if you don't mind, could I have your email id.. It'd be much easier to do it over the phone than it would to do it this way.. And I'd delete the comment once I read it anyway.

...Woman! BELIEVE me, this is the exact same discussion I've been having with my mum and other close people. When to quit working and start applying, what to study in the first place, whether I'll ever do it without wasting all the time that I get...Sigh! It's good to know there are more of me out there! :P

Remembering Avanti

Day before yesterday, on the 8th of November 2008, Avanti Desai would have turned 21. Instead 15 days before her birthday, as she hurried home to celebrate her grandmother's birthday, Avanti met with a train accident at Jogeshwari station. Just like that. Gone from our lives forever. Leaving behind a huge void and the world a lot more gloomier. And when I got the call first thing in the morning, I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a cruel sadistic joke, but as the calls kept coming in, I realised it was true. Even at the cemetary,, it still hadn't sunk in that Avanti was no longer here. The worst moment though was watching her disappear into the crematorium, it was horrible and I couldn't believe we were leaving her there, and through the next couple of hours all I could think of was of her going up in smoke while we stood there in the bright sunshine. It seemed incomprehensible at first, to think of Avanti as dead, to talk about her in the past tense, to get

Randomity

I sat here staring at my screen for at least 15 minutes before I could decide what to blog about and as I write this I still have no idea. It's randomness at its best. There are a multitude of thoughts swirling through my head and I'm finding it hart to pinpoint or firmly hold one down. To be precise, what I'm feeling is exactly what Mynie describes in Strings . It's a knotted mess in my head. But I felt that it was time I did a blog post, there have been way too many tags lately and while I love doing tags. It's incredibly cathartic to write a post and get everything off my chest. And while this may seem a mess of a post, there's a lot of stuff that I wanted to talk about but didn't really seem to deserve an entire post to themselves, in terms of content at least. So I'm gonna put them all in here, in what is probably going to turn up to be a hell of a confused post. I'm just going to go with the flow and talk about whatever pops into my head. Cool?

Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal

I watched Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal over the weekend. First day first show in fact and it was fun. A paisa vasool movie if nothing else. Goal absolutely belongs to John Abraham. You cannot take your eyes off him when he's on screen and he does superbly well in a film that doesn't need much histrionics. And his smile. Its just the best. I'm a sucker for nice smiles. The kind where the eyes get all crinkly and his entire face just lights up. Bipasha Basu doesn't have much to do in the film and is incredibly inept at what she does do. She just doesn't come across well. The songs are pretty good. I especially loved Halla Bol. Billo Rani on the other hand is a nonsensical film and would have fitted in better in a movie about UP or Bihar. And how a bunch of footballers who are struggling to pay rent for their club manage to come up with enough money to hire dancers and a vulgar looking singer is beyond me. The movie though doesn't do much for me. The computer animation is
